Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-anticipated Noida International Airport in Jewar in April 2025. The announcement, made on Friday, marks a significant milestone for this flagship project of the Uttar Pradesh government, which promises to bring “unprecedented prosperity” to the region.
Strategic Location and Significance
Spread across 1,334 hectares along the Yamuna Expressway, the Jewar Airport will be the second major airport in the National Capital Region (NCR) after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. Strategically located, it is expected to significantly reduce congestion at IGI and boost connectivity for both domestic and international travelers. The project is a cornerstone of the state’s infrastructural development, aimed at transforming the region into a hub of economic activity.
A Milestone Achieved
On December 9, the airport reached a critical milestone when an Airbus A320 from IGI Airport conducted a validation flight, marking a key step toward operational readiness. The flight—operated by IndiGo—tested the airport’s approach procedures, as well as the accuracy and functionality of its navigational aids and air traffic control systems. This successful test underscores the airport’s preparedness for commercial operations.
Economic Boost for the Region
The airport is expected to catalyze economic growth in western Uttar Pradesh, creating thousands of jobs and attracting investment. It will serve as a gateway to the world for industries in the region, particularly those in manufacturing, logistics, and tourism. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the transformative potential of the project, calling it a harbinger of prosperity for the state.
Looking Ahead
As April 2025 approaches, the completion of Jewar Airport is poised to redefine the aviation landscape of the NCR and set new benchmarks in airport infrastructure in India. With world-class facilities and state-of-the-art technology, the airport aims to become a model for sustainable and efficient air travel.
The inauguration by Prime Minister Modi will undoubtedly be a historic moment, signaling the dawn of a new era for Uttar Pradesh and its ambitious journey toward becoming a global investment destination.
